Transfer Checklist: What to do after your admitted.

Once you have been admitted to UMSL you still have a few major steps to complete before you are ready for your first day of classes.

Follow the steps below to get started:

1. Confirm your enrollment
Let us know that you plan to attend by confirming your enrollment and paying your $50 enrollment fee. By doing so, you're reserving your spot as a student and able to register for orientation and admitted-student events.

2. Activate your email
UMSL students use Windows Live as the official campus communication tool and most of your correspondences with the university will be via email. You'll need to login to activate your account and check it often. Need help with email? Call 314-516-6034.

3. Log into MyGateway
Use your SSO ID and password to log into UMSL the MyGateway system. Here, you'll find a wealth of information on course registration, financial aid and billing, student organizations and academics. Be sure to explore MyView and click the “I Agree” button on the e-consent page to gain full access. Need help? Call 314-516-6034.

4. Meet with your advisor
All new UMSL students are required to meet with an academic advisor in their area of study before they may register for classes. The advisor will cover how your credit has transferred, how far into your degree you are, and what classes you still need to complete.

5. Apply for financial aid
Take advantage of federal, university and private scholarships offered to help you earn your degree. Please visit the Office of Financial Aid website for information on completing or updating your FAFSA, applying for UMSL scholarships and other financial aid assistance.

6: Complete transfer orientation
All new students are required to either attend an in-person or online orientation. Register for a Transfer Student Orientation session and to learn everything there is to know about your new academic home. For more information, please contact New Student Programs at 314-516-5291.

7. Apply to live on campus
If you are going to be living on campus, then you will want to begin the application process for housing to reserve your spot for the upcoming semester. Please contact the Office of Residential Life to apply.

8. Submit final transcripts
Lastly, if you are still in classes at another school, do not forget to have you final transcripts sent once grades have been posted. Office transcripts must be mailed to: Office of Undergraduate Admission, 351 Millennium Student Center, One University Blvd., St. Louis, MO 63121
