Mobile Devices And Email Access
The Technology Support Center does not recommend one specific phone or provider. We do recommend the use of Windows Mobile operating system. If you intend to use your mobile device to send/receive e-mails and access the internet we recommend you purchase an unlimited data plan from your provider.
A Windows Mobile-based Smartphone connects directly and works natively with the University's Exchange Server. With a Windows Smartphone, you have access to the following resources:
- e-mail messages
- personal contacts
The recommended method to obtain University e-mail synchronization on your mobile device is through a device that utilizes the Windows Mobile operating system. These devices can be configured to communicate with the e-mail system without using a separate service. Additional information can be found at Windows Mobile about Windows Mobile.
You will need the following information:
- The server name is outlook.umsl.edu
- Your SSOID
- Your SSO password
- And SSL is required
Faculty/Staff can contact their telephone provider with theses settings to have their mobile device configured for e-mail. Should Faculty/Staff require additional assistance they may bring their mobile device to 211 Lucas Hall. The Cost for this service is $75/hr billed in hour increments to a department.
Access to University E-Mail
You do not have to subscribe to a service through the University to access e-mail. You may use a Windows Mobile-based Smart Phone and connect directly.
Access to TritonNet
TritonNet is available on the campus wireless network for smart phones that have wireless capabilities.
