Barnes-Jewish Hospital (BJH) is the St. Louis region's top adult hospital. For more than two decades, Barnes-Jewish Hospital has been ranked on the U.S. News & World Report’s Best Hospitals Honor Roll. In 2021, Barnes-Jewish ranked 17th overall with 11 specialties ranked nationally. The hospital was also the first hospital in Missouri to be designated as a Magnet hospital in 2003 by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) for excellence in nursing and has been redesignated consistently since. Siteman Cancer Center at Barnes-Jewish Hospital and Washington University School of Medicine is the only National Cancer Institute (NCI)-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center in Missouri and within a 250-mile radius.

Barnes-Jewish Hospital is a teaching hospital staffed by more than 1,500 Washington University Physicians, the clinical practice for the Washington University School of Medicine. By combining science and medicine, the academic medicine partnership has developed many treatments and procedures that are now common across the globe while educating future caregivers.


Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital

Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital(BJSPH) is an acute-care, 102-bed community hospital that serves the population of St. Charles, Lincoln and Warren counties. BJSPH provides comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services including the Siteman Cancer Center, Breast Health and Women's Center, Cardiology Center, Neurosurgery Center, and Outpatient Surgery and Endoscopy Center. In addition, BJSPH is an accredited Chest Pain Center and carries a Level II stroke certification. In addition, BJSPH is the only hospital in St. Charles County to offer thrombectomy, an interventional procedure for treating strokes.

The hospital has undergone several expansions which has doubled the capacity of its infusion center and added additional lung cancer screening capabilities. The hospital has also added a 35-bed inpatient rehabilitation facility, operated by The Rehabilitation Institute of St. Louis, a joint partnership between BJC HealthCare and Encompass Health. BJSPH offers the intimacy and friendliness of a community hospital while benefiting from physicians, resources, technology, and services in affiliation with BJC HealthCare, private physician practices and Washington University Physicians.

Barnes-Jewish West Hospital Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital (BJWCH) is recognized for outstanding patient care and offers highly specialized surgical and medical services, including orthopedics, bariatrics, plastics, urology and colorectal care in an intimate environment. With the opening of its new hospital in 2019 with 64 private rooms, 14 operating rooms and four intensive care unit rooms, the facility was designed to provide a comforting environment that is innovative, efficient and centered on the patient experience. Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital’s expanded partnership with Washington University Physicians, BJC Medical Group and private practice physicians offers patients access to the latest research, medicine and technology. The Professional Research Corporation survey consistently ranks the patients’ perspective of overall quality care received as excellent or within the top 10 percent nationally. U.S. News & World Report recognized the hospital as high performing in knee replacement surgery in the 2020-21 rankings. Vizient consistently identifies hospital-acquired conditions, mortality, and patient length of stay at BJWCH as lower than the national benchmark.


Christian Hospital & Northwest Healthcare

Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital Christian Hospital (CH) & Northwest HealthCare is a full service acute-care community hospital located on 28 acres in unincorporated north St. Louis County. Christian Hospital is noted for its excellence in heart services, lifesaving cardiothoracic surgery, emergency medicine, breast health services, orthopedic/spine surgery, endocrinology, radiology, urology, wound care, pulmonology, and treating sleep disorders. CH is licensed for 233 beds and staff includes 1,600 employees and 887 physicians. CH received the American College of Cardiology’s NCDR Chest Pain MI Registry Silver Performance Achievement Award for 2020 and is one of only 124 hospitals nationwide to receive this honor. Christian Hospital Emergency Medical Services (CHEMS) received the 2020 American Heart Association’s Mission: Lifeline Gold Plus Award for the treatment of patients who experience severe heart attacks. CHEMS was also certified in 2019 as Pediatric Ready by Missouri EMS for Children, ensuring training and preparation to treat and transport pediatric patients. In 2021, CH received the St. Louis Regional Chamber’s Arcus Award for Achievement in Health for their commitment to ongoing growth, improvement, community outreach and economic opportunity.

Located six miles west of Christian Hospital is Northwest HealthCare, which offers the community 24-hour emergency care, the Sleep Disorders Center and a variety of outpatient diagnostic and imaging services in a convenient setting to complement hospital services. Siteman Cancer Center opened its new $26.3 million facility on the Northwest HealthCare campus in 2019 to offer convenient access to nationally recognized cancer care including clinical trials evaluating innovative cancer therapies.


Missouri Baptist Medical Center

Missouri Baptist Missouri Baptist Medical Center (MoBap) is a 489-bed tertiary hospital offering a wide spectrum of medical and surgical services specializing in obstetrics and women’s health, cardiothoracic, cancer, orthopedic, neurology, stroke, gastrointestinal, wound, and pain management services. The hospital has a 24-hour adult emergency department and cares for pediatric patients at a separate emergency department in collaboration with St. Louis Children’s Hospital and Washington University physicians.

MoBap is consistently ranked by U.S. News & World Report as one of the top hospitals in the state, with recognition as "high performing" in several conditions and procedures. In 2021, MoBap was designated by the American Nurses Credentialing Center for the second time. Since 2005, SLCH has been a Magnet hospital for nursing excellence from the American Nurses Credentialing Center® (ANCC). In 2020, SLCH became one of only 76 hospitals worldwide to earn a fourth consecutive four-year Magnet designation.


Progress West Hospital

Progress West Hospital Progress West Hospital (PWH) opened in 2007 and is BJC HealthCare’s newest hospital in St. Charles County featuring modern private rooms. PWH offers 24-hour emergency services and has partnered with St. Louis Children’s Hospital to provide world-class pediatric emergency care.

PWH is a certified Level II Stroke Center and provides surgical and endoscopy services, a cardiac catheterization lab, medical/surgical inpatient services, diagnostic imaging, lab services, and the Advanced Wound Center, a specialty wound treatment facility with state-of-the-art equipment. In addition, PWH has expanded its Childbirth Center to include enhanced services for at-risk mothers and babies with a Newborn ICU that provides care for babies born as early as 32 weeks.
