From Service to Leadership in Nursing
The 68C to BSN program at the University of Missouri–St. Louis is designed exclusively for Army Practical Nursing Specialists ready to transition from LPN to RN and earn their Bachelor of Science in Nursing. This one-of-a-kind program builds on your military training, fast-tracks your degree, and prepares you for leadership in civilian and military healthcare settings.
Recognized by the Missouri State Board of Nursing and supported by St. Louis Army ROTC, this program offers a direct, efficient pathway from 68C training to RN licensure and a BSN degree.
This program is designed for individuals who completed the Army Practical Nursing program at the Army Medical Education Training Campus and served as an Army 68C LPN. The 68C to BSN program accepts 68C military coursework for transfer credit, shortening the time to bachelor’s degree and RN licensure.
Admission Criteria:
- Admission to the University by completing the UMSL Undergraduate Application
- Successful completion of MOS-68C Training Program as evidenced by Joint Service Transcript.
- Unencumbered LPN license
**Students must be able to attend nursing classes in person and participate in clinical rotations at assigned facilities in the St. Louis area.

Clinical experience
The College of Nursing is proud to prepare nurses as clinicians, scientists and educators and facilitate professional advancement through our innovative programs. Students gain hands-on experience in a variety of clinical settings throughout the region, including BJC, Mercy, SSM and St. Luke’s, as well as Delmar Gardens and Shriner’s Hospital for Children, giving students access to leading specialists, cutting-edge technology and best practices in acute care, primary care and community care.
Prior to these clinical experiences, students train at UMSL’s Nursing Learning Resource and Simulation Center, which replicates actual health-care settings and includes computerized human models, fully operational hospital beds, suction, oxygen, ventilators, a baby warmer and more.
