Incident Reporting

The University of Missouri-St. Louis Police Department has primary jurisdiction and responsibility to provide police service and investigate crimes on all property owned or controlled by the University.

All requests for police service should be made to the University of Missouri-St. Louis Police Department located on campus in the Campus Police building adjacent to the MetroLink North station. It is important that all crimes occurring on campus are immediately reported to the Police Department to ensure that prompt and appropriate action can be taken. Our Police Communications Center is staffed 24 hours a day and may be reached directly at 314-516-5155.

The University endorses a reporting policy that strongly encourages victims to report all crimes that occur within the jurisdiction of the University of Missouri-St. Louis Police Department at once, regardless of their nature. It is important that the police department be made aware of all criminal activity for reporting purposes and for the safety of others on campus. We strongly urge the victim of any crime to contact the police department.

If you do not feel comfortable talking to a police officer, crimes may be reported to a Campus Security Authority. You may also make voluntary confidential reports of criminal activity to professional counselors at Psychological Services or the Student Health Center. You will not be identified by name unless you agree; again, it is essential that the police department be made aware of all criminal activity on campus.

Crimes occurring off campus should be reported to the law enforcement agency where the incident occurred.  If you are the victim of a crime off campus and are unsure of the proper jurisdiction, contact the University of Missouri-St. Louis Police Department and we will assist you in contacting the proper agency.

EMERGENCIES requiring police, fire or medical aid can be reported by dialing 314-516-5155 or 911 from any telephone located on University property, by using one of the BLUE emergency telephones located throughout campus or by using one of the red telephones located throughout the buildings. For information or non-emergency police service dial 314-516-5155.

Please take a few moments to program the Campus Police phone number (314-516-5155) into your cell phone so as to be able to call quickly if necessary.

Members of the University community are encouraged to report any suspicious activity to the University of Missouri-St. Louis Police Department. The prompt reporting of suspicious persons or activity can often avert crimes. If someone's actions are out of character and you become suspicious, please call the Police Department. Let a Police Officer assess the situation and, if necessary, take action to resolve the incident. Please do not hesitate to call!

We also invite the reporting of physical hazards (lights out, odor of gas, etc.) so as to make our campus safer.
