Paula Prouhet, PhD, RN, CHSE

Paula Prouhet joined the College of Nursing in August of 2012. She currently serves as the Accelerated BSN Program Director. Paula is an Associate Teaching Professor and Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator and brings expertise in the areas of pediatric and neonatal intensive care nursing. She teaches a variety of courses across the undergraduate programs, including pediatrics, health assessment, and pathophysiology. Paula received her BSN from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville in 2001 and her MSN in nursing education from Maryville University in 2009. She obtained her PhD in nursing from the University of Missouri-Kansas City in 2021 with a research focus on nurses’ biases of families and the impact on family-centered care interventions in the neonatal intensive care unit.

Research interests include parent’s experiences in the NICU, family-centered care interventions, and women’s experiences following a breast cancer diagnosis.
