It is relatively easy to switch majors and they all start with common set of courses, and a faculty advisor will help you match your skills, interests and career objectives to one of the programs. You may also complete a certificate as a part of your undergraduate major.

Computer Science and Computing Technology are similar degree programs – the first one follows a more traditional  computer science curriculum with its depth into traditional computer science core topics,  while the other one is broader on various technologies without the traditional depth. Cybersecurity is more narrowly but deep focus on cybersecurity. Data Science is also more narrowly focused on processing and analyzing data.

Our full time faculty have broad expertise, supplemented by expert adjuncts for specific topics or technologies. Many faculty conduct research funded by local and national organizations such as NSF, NIF, and DoD, and offer paid research assistantships to interested qualified students, read about undergraduate research opportunities, the major research areas, and the current project.

We distribute about $25k a year in departmental scholarships and event awards in addition to university scholarships.

Our graduates can be found in all major and small companies in the region, nationally, and internationally. Examples include Boeing, Express Scripts, Google, Microsoft, Bayer, Centene, Mastercard, etc. Some students form their own businesses before or after graduation. In the last reporting period, 42% of the graduating seniors had jobs or job offers in the field, averaging $60-65k starting salary, before graduation as summarized here. Many student also work part time or full time and complete the degrees in the evening or online.
