Eight Students Present Research at Data Science Conference

Eight students in UMSL’s Department of Mathematics and Computer Science presented their research at the 2019 Midwest BioInformatics Conference in Kansas City. Graduate students Sri Harsha Akurathi and Kenneth Smith, along with undergraduates Justin Henn, Joseph Hill, Zachary Jorn, Alberto Maiocco, Paul Ries, and Nick Wooldridge, attracted a steady flow of researchers interested in their projects. CS student, Michael Chan assumed multiples roles at The Platform for Advanced Computing (PASC) 2018 Conference. 

Professor Mark Hauschild and Kimberly Stanger received our 2017 Departmental Internal Awards in recognition of their outstanding dedication and service to the department.


Our department Python Training Event took place Wednesday, March 8 in 410 SSB from 2 to 5 p.m. and was open to computer science students or any UMSL registered student.  The training was provided courtesy of KPMG

Graduate Computer Science student, Drew Ryder, was awarded second place in the Natural Sciences category for his research titled "Plant Root Detection using Computer Vision" at the annual Graduate Research Fair held at UMSL on April 15, 2016.
