Write Out is a free two-week celebration of writing, making, and sharing inspired by the great outdoors. It is a public invitation from National Writing Project to get out, create, and explore national parks and other public spaces. The goal is to connect and learn through place-based writing and sharing using the common hashtag #writeout.
This year’s Write Out is STEAM- Powered (STEAM = Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math). In St. Louis, we will focus on the E in STEAM and think about the great engineering around our city, specifically, the Gateway Arch, Eads Bridge, and the Old Courthouse. Write Out will be organized around the use of notebooks and journals that inspire observing, describing and annotating.
We invite you to join us in the following activities
- Writing Contest, The Write Engineer - Open October 9th - 23rd
- Writing Marathon on Gateway Arch National Park Grounds, October 17th from 4 - 6 PM
- Celebration of the National Day on Writing, October 20th
