Book Study

Are you looking for a way to stay professionally rejuvenated with like-minded teachers?

Join fellow GWP colleagues in a book study group.

Book clubs form around the professional books YOU choose.  Groups negotiate their own meeting place and schedule for reading in order to accommodate the needs of the group.  Expectations are minimal and simply include: reading, discussing, and applying learned strategies in the classroom.   Our previous choices are curated on our goodreads shelves at goodreads.com/gatewaywriting.

Groups come together in fall and/or spring to share findings and sign up for the next round at one of our Dinner and Demo events.  Please visit the GWP Marketplace for dates and registration information.

Hot off the press! Released in July, 2025, this book takes you from understanding what AI is and how it operates, to helping students become confident, ethical thinkers in an AI-powered world. Organized into three sections, it covers how to teach AI's foundational concepts, how to develop student inquiry and critical thinking, and how to teach student AI usage through authentic, curiosity-driven learning quests.

Writing is the highest form of thinking, as evidenced by neuroimaging that shows how more neural networks are activated simultaneously during writing than during any other cognitive activity. This book will help teachers understand how the brain learns to write by unveiling 15 stages of thinking that underpin the writing process along with targeted ways to stimulate them to maximize each individual’s writing potential.
