The Counseling and Social Advocacy received initial funding from the Jewish Federation of North America (JFNA) allowing us to create a counseling services program to older adults (60+) who have experienced trauma, and their caregivers.
Since it's inception, the CSAC has continued to seek out funding from other sources to continue this program to provide counseling services to older adults. Adults 60+ is one of the fasting growing populations. Older adults will outnumber minors by 2030.
The CSAC is able to provide individual and group counseling to older adults and caregivers. Services can be virtual, in person on UMSL's campus or through program coordination be onsite in a facility that serves older adults.
The CSAC is also able to provide training for caregivers, staff, social workers and counselors regarding trauma informed care with older adults and the impact of trauma on caregivers.
