Clinical Services

  • Our counselors provide individual counseling to clients of all ages. We have counselors who can address a variety of mental health concerns: anxiety, depression, relationship problems, grief and loss, difficulties with school or work, identity questions, and more.

Play Therapy

  • At the CSAC, we provide play therapy services designed for children. Our evidence-based treatment approach involves therapeutic play that promotes the development of self-esteem, self-control, and emotional regulation. Our play therapy approach is based on the belief that children communicate through play, and our specially trained counselors-in-training utilize play to assist children in addressing social, emotional, and behavioral needs.

Group Counseling

  • The Counseling and Social Advocacy Center provides diverse therapy and support groups for individuals. These groups usually run for 8-10 weeks and have 60-minute sessions. If you wish to participate in any of our groups, kindly contact the counseling center through 314-516-4613 for more information.

Grief Services

  • At the Counseling and Social Advocacy Center @ UMSL, we provide both individual and group counseling services for individuals who have lost a loved one. Additionally, we host various outreach events throughout the year to help individuals process, remember, and express their emotions. Our outreach events are free to attend, and we strive to create a secure environment for participants to learn, remember, and share their experiences as they honor the memory of their loved ones.

Older Adults (60+) and Caregivers

  • The Counseling and Social Advocacy Center has been granted funding by the Jewish Federation of North America (JFNA). This grant enables us to offer counseling services to older adults (60+) and their caregivers who have undergone traumatic experiences. Moreover, the CSAC provides training sessions to caregivers, social workers, staff, and counselors on trauma-informed care for older adults and the impact of trauma on caregivers.
