The Counseling and Social Advocacy Center offers various therapy and support groups for individuals. Groups are 60 minutes and meet for 8-10 weeks. If you are interested in participating in a group, please contact the counseling center for more information 314-516-4613.
Groups that are held virtually meet through a secure Zoom link. Participants must be residing in the state of Missouri during the time of the group meetings.
Participants will complete a brief phone screening with a counselor prior to the first session. An information form and consent for treatment will then need to be completed before starting the group.

UMSL Students: $5 session
Community Members: $10 session
Spring 2023 Groups
Grief and Loss Group (Virtual): Thursdays, 6:00-7:00pm or Saturdays 10:00-11:00am starting in March 2023. This group is for individuals who have experienced any type of loss or are grieving those losses. This is a closed group, meaning once the group has started, no new members will be added. register here.
Grief and Loss for Women only Group (Virtual): Fridays, 6:00-7:00pm starting in March 2023. This group is for women who have experienced any type of loss or are grieving those losses. This is a closed group, meaning once the group has started, no new members will be added. Register here.
Coping with Stress and Burnout Group (Virtual): Saturdays 9:00-10:00am starting in March 2023. This group is for individuals who are experiencing stress or burnout from work, school, or other things. This is a drop in group. Individuals who are interested can attend at any time over the 8 weeks the group is running. Register here.
Caregiver Group (Virtual): Tuesdays 4:00-5:00pm starting February 14, 2023. This group is for individuals who care for older adults (60+) who may have experienced trauma. This group may be a good fit for those in the medical field, other helping fields, or family and friends of older adults they are caring for. This is a closed group, meaning once the group has started, no new members will be added. This group is free, made possible by a grant from The JFNA Center on Holocaust Survivor Care
and Institute on Aging and Trauma. Register here.
Art and Emotions for Adolescents (In-Person): Thursdays 5:45-6:45pm starting in February 2023. This group is for individuals who are ages 13-17. This group uses a DBT framework and arts/craft activities to support individuals in addressing emotion regulation and mindfulness. This is a closed group. Once the group has been set we will be unable to add new members. Register here.
