“Buddy formerly worked for Continuing Education (now the School of Professional and Continuing Studies). He left UMSL to work for the federal government. After retiring earlier this year he brought his experience and talent back to UMSL. Buddy helped with the Crucial Early Years Conference, he wrote instructions for using a new software package, and most recently is helping the Campus Testing Center during the peak exam season. Everyone who works with Buddy loves him. He is always positive and pleasant.
We have been most fortunate to work with Buddy”

Associate Dean, School of Professional & Continuing Studies
“Marilyn is such an enormous asset when it comes to completing commencement mailings (which are very large). With her attention to detail and industriousness, she is able to complete a 1000+ piece mailing (something that would generally require 2 or more people) quickly and efficiently. Not only that, but she always arrives on time with a smile on her face – her positive attitude is contagious and reflects in all that she does for us. We are very lucky that she is able to help us out, and we know that when Marilyn is on the job, we can rest assured it will be completed on time and to high standards.”
"Chris volunteered the last two months in the Benefits area of the Human Resources Department. She answered phone calls, typed up labels for file folders and assisted with special projects. She even brought in nuts and candy on very stressful days! Her strong background in HR and her professional attitude helped us through an extremely busy time.”
JoAnn Westbrook, Human Resources
“Susan & Ron were relaxed, confident, professional, and timely. They supported our event with grace, flexibility, and were friendly and engaging with everyone. It was a pleasure to get to know them, and to work with them.”
Chani Smason, Graduate Student Center
"Jadah, who worked in the infant room as part of the 2013 Service Academy, was fantastic. She was motivated and really showed an interest in each of the children and families. She was eager to help in any way that we asked her and she took initiative in the classroom when there was down time."
Karen Taylor, University Child Development Center
“Ron has been a huge asset to the Barriger Collection since he began volunteering here in January. His in depth knowledge of railroad history, experience as a researcher and author of railroad topics and years of experience as a volunteer at the Museum of Transportation and as a former employee of the Science Center make him an invaluable part of our team. Ron has consistently shown that he can handle large projects with ease and we are truly honored to have him working with us here at the library.”
Nick Fry, Merantile Library
"Mary Cobb volunteers at the Children’s Advocacy Center on Tuesdays and Thursdays. She is dependable and our clients look forward to seeing her each week. She was hesitant when she first joined our team; now, she says she realy enjoys working with the children. The caregivers, children and staff at CAC are very grateful that Mary is dedicated to the task and unselfishly gives of her time."
Glenda Simms, Children’s Advocacy Center
“After retiring from MIMH, Nancy recently came back as a volunteer. Because she is familiar with the Institute and our employees, not a lot of supervision is needed. She has updated our office floor plans, has helped with a telephone audit, and reorganized our grants and contracts storage room. She is detail oriented, takes initiative and, most importantly, is a happy worker. Nancy’s volunteer service for MIMH is truly making a difference. We are so pleased that she has come back to work with us and appreciate the many things she does for MIMH."
"Jumai joined our staff at the Computer Education & Training Center in December and has been diligent in her work. She is helping us update our curriculum and has been painstakingly thorough in her research. Jumai was eager to dive into this project and we are looking forward to working with her on the next task."
Kate Moore - Associate Director, Professional & Continuing Studies
"Colby volunteers at the Sedexo Food Court area of the Millennium Student Center. He keeps the area of the condiments sparkling clean and the plastic cutlery, napkins, salt, pepper, cream, and sugar supplied. He also has to make sure the floor where the employees are working is free from spills of any kind. Colby is tasked to watch out for his fellow workers and take care that they don't have any mishaps."
