Volunteer Application Process

Volunteer Services looks forward to assisting you in identifying a volunteer position that best matches your interests, skills and availability.

To Get Started
  1. Complete a volunteer application

Are you a High School student? Click here for more information.

Are you an UMSL student? Click here for more information.

Community members, click here to download the Community Member Volunteer Application Packet and here to download the Background Check Authorization Form. (BOTH ARE REQUIRED.)

The application packets are in an Adobe Acrobat (PDF) document. If you are interested in downloading this file, but do not have Adobe Acrobat, you can download the program now for free.

  2. Upon receipt of the application, our office will contact you to arrange a Volunteer Placement Interview with the Volunteer Director, at which time a volunteer's skills and talents will be assessed and matched with an open volunteer opportunity. All high school aged volunteers must apply to volunteer on campus through the Service Academy program.

  3. Volunteer assignments are made based on current departmental needs. All volunteer assignments will be coordinated and distributed through the office of Volunteer Services. Once placed, volunteers will report directly to the management of departments where they are assigned.
