Installing Mitel Connect on Personal Windows Computer

Note: You will need to be on the campus wired network or have UMSL's VPN installed and connected in order to download and use this program.

Never use softphone to dial 911.

Step 1: Install the software


Download and start the upgrade process

Find the file MitelConnect.exe in your Downloads folder and double-click it to run.

Step 2: Begin the install


Click Yes on the Windows prompt that asks if you would like this app to be allowed to make changes on your device.

 If your computer needs any prerequisite software, it will be installed. You may be prompted to allow the installer/updater to step through the process. If no prerequisite software is needed, the installer will continue to the next step. 

The Mitel installer will appear and display the software version you are about to install (214.100.1222.0). Click Next to begin the install.

The next screen will be a license agreement. Click the circle to the left of "I accept the terms in the license agreement" and click Next.

Next is the Destination Folder prompt. Click Next to continue with the default file location.

The installer will show it is ready to install. Click Install to begin this process.

You will see a bar displaying the progress of the install.

Once the install is complete, you will see the following window. Click Finish.

To launch the new Application, go to the Start Menu and select Mitel Connect. If you had buttons programmed in your previous version of Mitel Connect (to monitor an extension, for example) you will need to add them back by clicking the + in the lower right corner of the Connect window.

The ShoreTel app will now be named Mitel.

The first time you use Mitel Connect on your computer, you will need to configure your login.


When you first launch the newly installed Mitel Connect you are greeted with a login screen:

Click on the text Show advanced to reveal the full window:

  • Username: enter your campus SSO (NOT your email).
  • Password: enter your SSO password.
  • Do not check the Use Windows Credentials box.
  • Domain: enter UM-AD.
  • Server: stl-shoretel.umsl.edu.
  • Be certain to check Remember me so the settings are saved.
  • You may be prompted to reboot your computer.
