Q: Do parents need to pre-register and accompany their child throughout the day?
A: Yes, all children must be pre-registered, and parents must accompany their children to the planned campus activities and remain with them throughout the day.
Employees must complete the Consent Form (for each child) and pre-register the child(ren) through the online form. If the child(ren) accompanies you to work, you must participate in the planned activities. This is for your protection and the protection of the child. Supervisor approval is required to register.
Q: Am I required to allow my employee(s) to participate?
A: While we encourage participation in these events and activities, participation requires supervisory approval, based on factors such as:
- The availability of the parent(s)
- Department staffing needs
Q. What if my employee(s) want additional time at the events or need to leave work early to transport children?
A: This should be discussed prior to the official day. With supervisor approval, employees may use accrued Paid Time Off to account for any additional time away from work associated with the “Bring a Child to Work Day” event.
Q: Is my department allowed to organize activities in the department to compensate for individual departmental challenges that exist?
A: No, units may not organize their own unit-specific events. Events had to be submitted for approval.
Q: How old should my child be to participate?
A: While we don’t have an age limit for this event, please be mindful of the associated activities that your child will take part in. A schedule will be provided the morning of the event.
Q: Can I bring my niece/nephew/grandchild, etc. to Bring a Child to Work Day?
A: Yes, you will still need to complete the pre-registration process. If the child(ren) accompanies you to work, you must participate in the planned activities. This is for your protection and the protection of the child. Supervisor approval is required to register.
Q: I work on the South Campus. Will there be any events held here?
A: No, unfortunately, due to logistics and department participation, all the day’s events will be held on North Campus.
