Welcome to the Veterans Center

The UMSL Veterans Center is more than just an office on campus. Fully staffed with three full-time staff members and a team of student workers, the Veterans Center is your space to study, relax, connect, and unwind.

Upon entering the space, you will find the welcome desk, typically manned by a student worker, and you may notice the photo wall behind the desk. Students are welcome to contribute to the photo wall with photos, patches, and pins from their time with the military. Many students use the large lounge space to study, relax, and socialize with other military connected students, or just drop in for a free cup of coffee.Students have access to computers with CAC readers, as well as a secure-release printer.

The Veterans Center is your home base- you’ll never navigate alone.

“Working at the Vet Center has been an opportunity to serve my community, but also to meet a lot of students like me. Helping them to get their benefits has been of great satisfaction for me.”

Irina Biedenstein

The past four years have been a wild tumultuous ride, but the Veterans Center and the people involved in it have been a welcome constant. From throwdowns in Mario Kart, heated debates, and fits of laughter, I would not have pulled through without finding this spot on campus.”

“My time here at the Veterans Center was short but well spent. I would pop in and grab some stickers and snacks. It was a great place to use if you wanted to sit down for a second. The people helping me during each semester were very efficient. I had a time where I had a problem with my GI Bill for the next semester. I was stressed and had no clue where to start. They were very calm and knowledgeable about everything. They figured it out for me and told me what to do next. I would always walk out of the Veterans Center feeling like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders.”

“Staffed by student veterans just like you, the UMSL Veterans Center is our one-stop-shop to get your questions answered, your benefits processed, to connect with other veterans on campus, or just to rest and grab a cup of coffee between classes.”

– Tori Tappe, class of Spring 2022
