Note: You may have recently received an email from the Instructional Design team letting you know that you need to update your Online Teaching Certification Status. That email erroneously suggested there were two different paths for that process, but there is only one. This pathway is totally asynchronous and can be completed on your schedule. Complete the Teaching Essentials Module and two other sprints of your choice. See the recertification page below for more details. Reach out to ctl@umsl.edu with any other questions. Thank you for your understanding!
Online instructors need to recertify every five years as technologies change and best practices evolve. The asynchronous recertification process includes a standard module (Online Teaching Essentials) followed by the instructor's choice of two additional sprints from our catalog of 12 sprints.
All sprints follow the same structure: Content, Connect, Create.
- Content: Review the content to learn more about the topic.
- Connect: Connect with an instructional designer to ask questions, discuss the assignment (optional)
- Create: Reflect on and share what you learned from this course and your plans to enhance your course.
Once you complete the Teaching Essentials sprint, you will take your choice of two sprints.
