Cohort Default Rate

The cohort default rate is the percentage of borrowers who went into repayment in a given Fiscal Year (FY) and default within the next three years.  Because of the pause in repayment given to student loan borrowers due to the COVID emergency, the fiscal year 2017 and 2018 are listed as they are the most recent years for which real data exists. For more information refer to the Department of Education’s Cohort Default Rate Guide.
