Advanced Molecular Biology (BIOL 6602)
NEW COURSE FORMAT – BIOL 6602 – ADVANCED MOLECULAR BIOLOGY
3 CREDITS, 8 WEEKS - ACCELERATED
In the Spring of 2012, this course will be taught as an accelerated course during the first eight weeks of the semester. We will meet twice per week from 4PM until 6:45PM. The first hour of the class will be lecture while the remaining time will be used for discussion of scholarly articles appropriate to the lecture topics.
This course encompasses a study of the principles of molecular biology, with emphasis on understanding the genetic regulation of DNA, RNA, and protein synthesis and function in eukaryotic cells. Students will be required to write a paper on a topic relevant to the course.
Prerequisites: Biology 2012 & Chem 2612, or consent of instructor. Students may not receive credit for Biology 6602 and either Biology 4602, or any course previously called Gene Expression in Eukaryotes or Advanced Gene Expression in Eukaryotes.
