B.A. (Zoology) Ohio Wesleyan University
M.Ed. (International Education) Framingham State College
Upon completion of my bachelor’s degree I moved to Costa Rica where
I spent nearly 10 years teaching biology in international high schools.
During the last five years I taught and held the Biology Coordinator position
at the British School of Costa Rica. In my free time I worked as a naturalist
guide, and generally enjoyed visiting and observing the diversity of Costa
Rica's ecosystems and the flora and fauna they contained. I have come to
UM-St. Louis for formal training in ecology and started the Ph.D. program
in Ecology, Evolution, and Systematics in the fall of 2004. My research
interests include the avian community structure along urban gradients and
at the urban-natural area interface in tropical as well as temperate regions.
