UMSL hosts a variety of programs to support faculty who are new to UMSL or are starting a new role at UMSL.
New Full-Time Faculty Orientation (for new tenured/tenure track and NTT faculty): Organized by Academic Affairs in collaboration with other partners such as the Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) and Student Affairs, this is a day-long event in mid-August. It welcomes new faculty and introduces them to students and key campus resources. It is accompanied by an optional, half-day event hosted by the CTL focused on teaching and technology to help faculty get started with their first semester of teaching at UMSL.
New Part-Time Faculty Orientation: Organized by the Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL), Part-Time (adjunct) Faculty Orientations are held 4 times a year (in January, May, and twice in August). All UMSL part-time faculty, new or returning, are welcome to register. These sessions are engaging and interactive including conversations with the Provost, strategizing about your learning materials, and interactive case study discussions with our panels of student support experts from across campus.
