Sarah Hultine Massengale is an Assistant Extension Professor with the Dept. of Political Science at University of Missouri-St. Louis, and a State Extension Specialist in Community Development with University of Missouri Extension. Sarah works with communities to build civic capacity for thriving communities. Her research focuses on rural communities and building resilient food systems. She has a doctoral degree in Rural Sociology from University of Missouri -Columbia, Master of Urban Planning from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and a bachelor's degree in biology and environmental studies from Knox College. Sarah was the inaugural recipient of the MU Extension Susan Mills-Gray Impact on Community Health award in 2022.
