M-407: Missouri Pinewoods Logging and Forestation Scrapbook

SCOPE: This scrapbook, a gift to Mary Hinchey by cousin A. H. Hinchey, contains annotated photographs of logging operations in the Ozark Mountains pinewoods of Missouri. Photographs show the loggers themselves, skidways filled with felled trees, the rail operation to move the lumber from the camps (including an accident), the waterways of the Missouri pinewoods, camp offices, lumber mills, and other aspects of the lumber work-life.

Tipped into the scrapbook is a small photographic souvenir booklet from 1906 showing logging operation.

ACCESS: This is collection M-407. This collection is available for on-site use only in the Rare Book and Manuscripts Reading Room. Some of the collection may be photocopied, digitally scanned or photographed, depending on condition. Researchers are advised to call ahead concerning changes in hours due to University intersessions and holidays.
