Marketing Advisory Council

UMSL Marketing & Entrepreneurship Advisory Council

The UMSL Marketing & Entrepreneurship Advisory Council was established in 2013 to strengthen the connection between industry and academia during a period of rapid transformation in the marketing profession. As digital technologies, social media, and data-driven marketing reshaped the field, the department recognized the importance of engaging industry leaders who could help ensure that UMSL students graduate with skills aligned to the evolving marketplace.

The Council brings together accomplished marketing and business professionals who are willing to invest their time, insight, and experience to help guide the future of the department. Members serve as a bridge between the classroom and the professional world, helping shape curriculum relevance, mentoring students, and supporting experiential learning initiatives such as the Midwest Digital Marketing Conference (MDMC).

Through their involvement, Council members help position the University of Missouri–St. Louis at the forefront of modern marketing education while strengthening connections between the university and the regional business community.

Access to MDMC

Council members receive priority consideration for speaking opportunities and complimentary admission to the Midwest Digital Marketing Conference, one of the region’s premier marketing and technology events.

Professional Visibility
Council meetings are often hosted at member organizations, providing hosts the opportunity to showcase their work, share insights, and highlight emerging trends.

Networking & Collaboration
Members build strong relationships with fellow industry leaders, faculty, and students across the St. Louis business community.

Influence on Talent Development
Council members help shape curriculum, mentor students, and contribute to the development of the next generation of marketing professionals.

How do I join?

Membership on the Advisory Council is by invitation and includes both UMSL alumni and non-alumni. In fact, less than 25% of Council members are UMSL graduates, reflecting the department’s strong connection to the broader marketing community.
