Lori Curtis, MSW, LCSW, is an Assistant Teaching Professor, and has been with the School of Social Work at UMSL since 1999. She is also Associate faculty with the Institute for Women's & Gender Studies on campus. She received her BA in Psychology from the State University of New York - College at Geneseo, and her MSW from the George Warren Brown School of Social Work at Washington University, where she individualized her concentration to focus on women's issues.

Prior to joining the faculty at UMSL, Lori worked for over 8 years at Women's Support and Community Services (now Safe Connections), an organization providing assistance to women who have experienced physical, emotional, and/or sexual abuse/assault. She continues to volunteer for the YWCA's Sexual Assault Response Team, is on the Board of Bisexual Alliance of St. Louis and the GWB Alumni Association's Healing Racism Focus Group.

Lori teaches several courses in the undergraduate curriculum, most frequently the Direct Practice courses (SW3100 and SW4110) and Diversity and Social Justice (SW3700). In addition to teaching on campus, she also coordinates the outreach program for the School of Social Work, with BSW and MSW completion programs currently being offered at Mineral Area College. Lori is also the BSW Advising Coordinator, providing academic advising for many of the BSW and pre-social work students. She is also very active in UMSL's Safe Zone program.
