Tracey's Success Story

I’m a single mother of three children. Attending UMSL hasn’t always been easy especially with three kids, working full-time, and being a full-time student. Some sacrifices I made for my children were taking a break from school when the pandemic began, so I could regain my focus. I took one semester off. I love that UMSL allows you to take a semester off without any judgment. I set some personal goals to go back and finish my degree. I knew when I started my journey at UMSL that I always wanted to finish school. I took advantage of the virtual classes, so that can give me time to work and be a mother to my kids. Sometimes I found myself being overwhelmed, but setting a schedule helped me get to where I am today. Some tips I have is work ahead as much as possible, do your school work when the kids are asleep, take advantage of all the resources that UMSL offers for families, and reach out for help when you find yourself struggling. You got this! I’ll be graduating with my bachelors degree in criminology and criminal justice. I know if I can do it so can you!
