Jennifer Toro Mazzoni (Instructor of flute)whose flute playing has been described as “heavenly” by the Post-Dispatch, studied music at Webster University under the direction of Jan Gippo and Mark Sparks. She completed her master’s degree at Indiana University, working with Thomas Robertello.While at I.U., Jennifer gave the first student performance of Christopher Rouse's Flute Concerto as a winner of the concerto competition.
An active performer and orchestral musician, Jennifer has appeared with various professional ensembles in the St. Louis area, including the MUNY, the Bach Society, Winter Opera, and the SLSO, as well as a featured solo artist for concert series in St. Louis and across the region. She is currently the flute instructor at University of Missouri-St. Louis. Jennifer has maintained a private home studio for the past 25 years, as well as having taught flute at Murray State University and the Community Music School at Webster University.
After meeting in a theory entrance exam at Indiana University in 2003, Jennifer and her husband, pianist Matthew Mazzoni, formed the prize winning Mazzoni Duo. Inspired by the beauty around them, the duo brings their “fluid and seamless blending” to musical stages nationally and internationally. They have recorded two albums: Morning by Morning (2017), a collection of original hymn arrangements, and Love’s Pure Light (2020), featuring sacred and classical Christmas works.
