The College of Business provides opportunities for students to receive academic credit for approved internship situations in all major emphasis areas.

The Internship Program is designed to supplement the academic program by providing "real world" experience prior to graduation. The program offers resources to students either through the current Internship Coordinator or through an online course in Canvas. Students that wish to access the online resources must first schedule an appointment with Lisa in order to check if the student meets the program requirements. This program under Lisa’s care is one of the largest university-based internship programs in the region serving more than 2,800 business students. This programs offers the following services:

  • Connecting students with potential employers for internship opportunities
  • Determine student eligibility to receive credit for internship in the College of Business Administration
  • Assistance searching and preparing for internships
  • Resume and cover letter reviews
  • Mock interviews and interview preparation
  • Special interest program organization
  • And much more!

Meet the Internship Coordinator: Lisa Fikki

Lisa FikkiLisa has been with the UMSL College of Business Internship Program since 2015 and has already helped hundreds of students find internships in their respective fields and interests. With more than 20 years of experience in business, human resource development, training and marketing, her career and background has allowed her to fit right at home at UMSL. Lisa earned her Bachelor’s in Liberal Arts from the University of Missouri – Kansas City and earned a Master’s in Business Administration with an emphasis in Marketing from Keiser University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. As UMSL’s new Internship Coordinator, Lisa organizes events, assists students with opportunities, and continues to set precedents for her position.
