Antionette Sterling is a senior academic advisor at the Ed G. Smith College of Business and an adjunct faculty member in the College of Education. She earned her doctorate in higher education from the University of Missouri–St. Louis in 2016, as well as a master's degree in communication and a bachelor's degree in French from Missouri State University.
Antionette is passionate about student success and is dedicated to supporting students. She has extensive knowledge of various advising constructs and theories, which she uses to promote student resilience and foster a sense of belonging as students navigate their college experiences. Throughout her career, she has worked with first-time college students, first-generation students, adult learners, and graduate students, teaching at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
In addition to her roles in advising and teaching, Antionette is a member of NACADA and MACADA, professional organizations dedicated to academic advising. She has participated in various committees at the university and frequently presents at professional conferences.
In her free time, Antionette loves diving into history, exploring museums, traveling, enjoying musical concerts, reading, and conducting exciting research. Passionate about running and fitness, she’s eager to inspire her students to embrace an active lifestyle and cultivate a lifelong passion for learning!
