The Advanced Credit Program partners with over 90 high schools and over 500 teachers across the St. Louis area. If you are a representative from a high school interested in offering dual credit in your classrooms, or if you are a high school teacher interested in offering dual credit to your students, see the sections below.

High Schools

To establish a partnership with the UMSL Advanced Credit Program, a representative from the high school should send an inquiry to acp@umsl.edu. The ACP is open to meeting with school officials to discussing potential course offerings and the benefits dual credit. If the high school wishes to proceed, the ACP director will work to develop a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the ACP and the school. This memorandum must be signed by the school principal.

As outlined in the MOUs, the high school must also appoint a primary contact person who will communicate regularly with the ACP and approve student applications during the registration period.

Teachers interested in offering dual credit at a partnered high school must individually seek approval by sending a resume and graduate transcript to acp@umsl.edu.

Teachers

To teach a dual credit course through the UMSL Advanced Credit Program, the instructor’s high school must first have an established MOU with the ACP.

The instructor must then also meet the necessary qualifications. All ACP instructors are qualified and meet the criteria of the Higher Learning Commission and the Missouri Department of Higher Education to offer courses for college credit. This typically requires teachers to have a master’s degree in their subject area or a master’s degree in a related field (such as an M.Ed) with at least 18 graduate credit hours in their subject area.

Teachers interested in offering dual credit should send their resume and unofficial graduate transcript to acp@umsl.edu. They should also include information about their high school and subject area. Resumes and transcripts will then be forwarded to an UMSL faculty member from the appropriate department. The department will then review the documents and make a decision regarding approval.

If approved, the teacher will receive a message welcoming them to the program. This welcome message will also include next steps for the teacher.
