The National Alliance of Concurrent Enrollment Partnerships (NACEP) requires all dual credit instructors to attend one professional development workshop every academic year. For this reason, the Advanced Credit Program hosts a wide variety of PD workshops each year. Events are posted throughout the year as they are scheduled. If an instructor cannot attend the session hosted by their department, they are permitted to attend another PD if the subject is relevant to their classroom.

Adjuncts who attend an in-person workshop receive a $100 stipend check (limit of one per academic year) plus one student scholarship (limit of two per academic year) which may be awarded to any ACP student to cover the tuition for one dual credit course. If you have questions about an upcoming event, please contact Benjamin Andrews at bandrews@umsl.edu.

UPCOMING EVENTS...

History Professional Development - 9/14/2026

Date: Sunday, 9/14/2026

Time: 4PM

Location: UMSL Millennium Student Center, Century Room A

Event: The Professor Diane Touliatos Endowed Annual Lecture in Greek Historical Studies

Topic: Who Was Socrates? And Why Should We Care?

Speaker: Professor Alexander Nehamas, Princeton University

Description: Socrates is still, for many of us, a hero of our culture. He wrote nothing himself. Many of his companions composed dialogues featuring his relentless questioning of the values of his time, which provoked and unsettled his contemporaries. These companions also tried, unsuccessfully, to explain his persistent and mysterious appeal. In the works of Plato, his greatest pupil, he emerges as a man for all seasons but remains a deep mystery. What makes Socrates a mystery? Could that be why he remains important and why we keep returning to him again and again?

Attendance: This event is free and open to the public. However, if you plan to attend as part of your ACP PD requirement, please RSVP to let the ACP know you plan to attend.
