New Deans 

Dr. Susan Dean-Barr joined UMSL on July 1, 2012 as Dean of the College of Nursing and Professor of Nursing.  Dean Dean-Baar comes to us from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee where she was a Professor of Nursing and Interim Dean of the College of Public Health and previously had been Acting Dean of the College of Nursing.  She has been the project director and/or principal investigator on many grants related to nursing education and rehabilitation nursing and has many published articles and conference presentations.  Susan Dean-Baar is a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing and has received many other awards and honors throughout her career.  Dr. Dean-Baar earned a PhD and B.S.N. from Loyola University in Chicago, a MS from Rush University in Chicago.  Please welcome Dean Susan Dean-Baar to UMSL. 

I am pleased to announce that Christopher R. Dames is our new Dean of the Libraries, starting July 1, 2012.  Chris has been Interim Dean of the UMSL Libraries since 2010 and was co-interim dean since fall 2008.  Prior to this he was a reference librarian and web developer in the UMSL libraries from 1998 - 2008, and a librarian in the Stark County District Library from 1995 until he joined UMSL.  Chris holds a M.L.S. from Kent State University, and BS and MS degrees in physics from UMSL.  He has published several articles on physics topics. 

Chris Dames has shown excellent leadership in the libraries at UMSL as interim dean, and we are pleased to have him continue in the capacity of Dean of the Libraries.  Please join me in welcoming Chris to this position.
