Move Out Program SP2025
Something new is happening this Spring in Oak Hall! UMSL Sustainability is helping to manage the end-of-the-year "Move Out" for the dormitories to reduce waste.
Currently, any items collected are organized for a (free) sale to be held when students return in August. After the sale, any items that have not been claimed are instead donated to charity. The Move Out Program event helps students save money, foster community, and prevents waste.
NOTE: Oak Hall will close for the academic year on Friday, May 16 at Noon. This means that all residents need to be out of the building by that time.
Move Out Program Timeline:
Donation Drop-Off
Staffed tables will be set up in the Oak Hall lobby with totes for students to place donations in. Keeping items separated into "streams" helps make sure things can be reused and recycled.
Storage Period
Donations will be sorted and stored by UMSL Sustainability.
Move Out Madness Sale
All stored donations will be available for a free shopping event for incoming students. You can furnish your new suite with these free items and avoid a "back-to-school" shopping splurge!
The actual date of the free sale is still TBD - stay tuned!
Charity Donation
Any items not taken at the free sale will be donated to charity.
