Pamela Grooms is currently serving as a staff collaborative pianist at UMSL. Previously, she was an Associate Professor of Music at Lindenwood University (2007–2024). She was Director of Choral Activities/Music Education Advisor, and taught such courses as Advanced Conducting, Piano Proficiency, World Music, and private piano and voice lessons. She conducted the University Chorus and Concert Choir; and Voices Only, who performed at the 2012 Missouri Music Educators Association Conference. She previously taught 16 years in the Francis Howell School District in St. Charles. A frequent clinician at churches and high schools, she has conducted honor choirs in and around St. Louis and serves as a judge for festivals and contests in Missouri.
An accomplished pianist, Mrs. Grooms had a private studio for many years and was pianist for the St. Louis Philharmonic Orchestra (1990–2018). She is currently organist/pianist at Webster Hills United Methodist Church, and is a freelance accompanist in the area. Mrs. Grooms is a member of The National Association for Music Education and the American Choral Directors Association.
After her retirement in May 2024, Mrs. Grooms looks forward to collaborating with ensembles, teaching privately, and judging more festivals. But mostly she is excited to travel more and spend more time with her husband, two children, three grandchildren, and her dogs!
