Immunizations
As a new international student, you must submit your immunization records to UMSL Health Services.
You can submit proof of immunizations online using the Health Services portal. Bring a copy of your immunization records in English when you travel to the US.
If you need an immunization, you can do so at the UMSL Health Services clinic after you arrive on-campus.
Required Immunizations and Vaccines
You are required to complete a TB screening online using the Health Services portal . You will also need to do additional testing with UMSL Health Services upon arrival.
You are required to have a Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) Vaccine and Meningococcal Vaccine prior to arrival in your home country OR upon your arrival to the United States.
During the Global Triton Welcome, you will have a designated time to visit Health Services to schedule any immunizations you are missing or ask questions. Appointments can be made through the Health Services portal.

Health Insurance
Detailed information about the University of Missouri System student health insurance is available at the UMSL Health Insurance webpage.
As an international student, you will be automatically enrolled in the UMSL student health insurance upon enrollment in classes each semester. Insurance fees will be billed to your student account and will appear on your monthly billing statement.
If you receive any immunizations at the UMSL Health Clinic during Global Triton Welcome, the clinic staff will help you fill out a claim with your insurance for reimbursements. Please note that the insurance reimbursement process takes time. Expect to pay up front for any vaccines you receive at the UMSL clinic upon your arrival and receive a reimbursement for these costs later in the semester.
Dependent Spouse and Child Coverage
This student health insurance plans is also available for dependents spouses and children at an additional cost. You must enroll your dependents separately by the deadline; usually 1-2 weeks after the start of the semester.
Student Health Insurance Waivers
Health insurance waivers are only granted for the following reasons:
- You are a sponsored student and are covered by a government-sponsored health insurance program;
- You are covered under UMSL's employee health insurance through your employment or that of a family member;
- You are a short term J-1 exchange student;
- You are a recipient of the Ministry of Education and Technical and Vocational Training (Bahamas) scholarship;
- You will be outside the United States for the entire semester.
All waiver requests must be completed by the end of the second week of classes. Please note that completion of a waiver request does not guarantee that a waiver will be granted.
