Dr. Meredith Moore (she/her) is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Education Sciences and Professional Programs. Dr. Moore received her Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision and M.S. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Arkansas, and her B.S. in Psychology from Oklahoma State University. She is a licensed professional counselor (LPC) and eating disorder specialist with experience in correctional, private practice, and collegiate counseling settings.
Dr. Moore’s research explores how systems of oppression intersect to shape counselors’ beliefs and practices, with the goal of developing anti-oppressive and size-inclusive approaches to counseling and counselor training. Her work centers on body size as a dimension of diversity in counselor education and clinical practice and extends to examining relational-cultural theory and decolonial frameworks as pathways for fostering connection, creativity, mutual empathy, and liberation in counseling relationships and pedagogy.
At UMSL, Dr. Moore teaches several courses including Ethics and Professional Issues in Counseling, Addictions Counseling, and clinical courses such as Practicum and Internship for both master’s and doctoral students.
