The University of Missouri-St. Louis College of Optometry promotes and provides improved eye and health care for people throughout the country by preparing the next generation of optometrists and vision researchers. Our faculty are experts in optometry and vision science and are committed to providing students with a rigorous and comprehensive education.
The College of Optometry is one of only 23 accredited optometry schools in the United States and is the only optometry school in the state of Missouri. We offer a four-year professional program leading to the Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) degree which is accredited by the Accreditation Council on Optometric Education (ACOE).
UMSL recently completed a months-long renovation of the second floor of the Patient Care Center, which will now serve as the main hub of clinical lab education for the College of Optometry. The roughly 14,000-square-foot space features teaching labs and study and lounge spaces, and will serve more than 170 students in the program.
