We are excited about your interest in the Pierre Laclede Honors College! Please complete the steps below to share your information with us.
1. Apply to UMSL
To apply to UMSL, please follow the instructions found on the UMSL Office of Admissions. You must first be admitted to UMSL to be moved through the Honors application process.
2. Meet the Criteria
All first-time college students with a 3.5 GPA or 24 ACT or be in the top 20% of their class and all transfer students with a 3.2 GPA are preselected for admissions into the Honors College.
3. Submit One Writing Sample
The writing sample helps the Honors College learn more about your past writing experience. Please upload a paper from a prior class or other academic writing of 2 or more pages. The submission type should be a PDF or Word Document. The writing sample can be uploaded on your Triton Portal or sent to askhonors@umsl.edu.

4. Accept Invitation to Interview
Once we receive your writing sample, Jenna Haddock, our Admissions Representative, will set up an interview with an Honors faculty member. These interviews are informal and we will discuss your interest in the college. Depending on the time of the semester, we might also set up your class schedule.
5. One Letter of Recommendation
Once you have completed the interview, you will complete your application by submitting a letter of recommendation to the Admissions Representative, Jenna Haddock. This letter should come from someone who can speak to your academic potential. The letter of recommendation can be uploaded on your Triton Portal or sent to askhonors@umsl.edu.
6. Receive the Decision
After the interview, all students will receive an invitation or letter of regret after completing the interview and submitting a letter of recommendation.
