
Anna Heinzmann is a PhD student in Criminology and Criminal Justice at the University of Missouri–St. Louis whose research focuses on prosecutorial decision-making, courts and sentencing, comparative criminal justice, and human trafficking. Drawing on her background in law and criminal defense practice in Brazil, her recent research investigates plea negotiations and non-prosecution agreements in Brazil through qualitative interviews with prosecutors, public defenders, and private defense attorneys. She also contributes to projects on language barriers and court representation in collaboration with the American Civil Liberties Union, community violence intervention initiatives in the United States, and human trafficking awareness.
