FormServlet is a java servlet developed at the University of Missouri - St. Louis to process information from online forms. HTML forms are used to input data and instructions to FormServlet, which can deal with that data in primarily two ways: email notifications and database modifications. This allows the creation such things as an online application that emails itself to the appropriate person when submitted, or an online survey that stores its results in a database, the results of which can later be viewed using yet another FormServlet job.
The following pages will take you through some basic form concepts, help you create a simple form, and show you some examples of various types of forms. The last section of these instructions includes a list of all variables in the program and their definitions. These instructions assume that you have had some basic experience with HTML.
