M-73: Joseph Philipson Business Account Book

 

HISTORY: Joseph Philipson was a merchant in St. Louis in the years immediately following the Lousiana Purchase. His account book was an early donation to the Mercantile Library.

SCOPE: The collection highlights a St. Louis merchant in account with noted early St. Louisans such as William Clark, Meriwether Lewis, and others. The account book dates from December 13, 1807 to July 31, 1809.
