Edward Jarka, O.D., M.S.

Dr. Jarka
attended the Illinois College of Optometry from 1980 to 1984
during which time he received a Masters of Science degree with
an emphasis in microbiology from Western Illinois University
in 1982 and his Doctor of Optometry degree in 1984.
Dr. Jarka has pursued a wide variety of clinical and research opportunities.
He has been in private practice and a staff member of a large staff
model HMO. In 1994 he joined the CIBA Vision Corporation as a Senior
Research Optometrist and worked on a number of projects that led
to products in use today. The desire to concentrate in primary
care led him to the Danville Eye Clinic, a large optometry/ophthalmology
practice in East Central Illinois, where he concentrated in pediatric
and primary care optometry. He has served as a consultant to the
Veterans Administration Hospital in Danville and a member of the
staff at the Provena United Samaritan Medical Center of Danville,
IL.
Dr. Jarka joined the faculty of UM-St. Louis in 2003. He coordinates
the clinical activities of two university eye centers and concentrates
his practice in the treatment of ocular disease.
When Dr. Jarka is not at the College he enjoys watching his children
participate in various sports. He is also a devout St. Louis Cardinals
fan as well as an admirer of vintage Ford Mustangs.
