Dr. Dixon has been in higher education for over twenty years working at several medical schools before joining the University of Missouri St. Louis in January 2017 as the Assistant Dean of Nursing. As Associate Provost for Student Success, Dr. Colette Dixon develops, coordinates and provides a system of academic support to increase undergraduate student retention, persistence and graduation. Through collaboration with campus partners, Dr. Dixon coordinates advising efforts and works closely with the Office of Student Outreach and Support. She directs the University Studies program for incoming freshman students as well as the Triton Impact Microgrant. She also handles student matters dealing with academic affairs and financial appeals. She leads the Student Success and Advisory Council, which hosts an annual professional development summit for all students interacting with staff. Additionally, she is a lead with the UM Advising Professional Development program that provides leadership training to faculty and professional advisors and academic coaches throughout the University of Missouri System. She is a first-generation college student that holds a doctorate in Higher Education Administration and Master’s degree in Professional Counseling.
