UMSL Latin Jazz Camp: June 6 - 9, 2023

UMSL offers a four-day-long day intensive study of Afro-Cuban and Afro-Brazilian styles that have influenced “Latin Jazz”. This immersive experience brings together top professionals, gifted educators and motivated students from the region.
Through a partnership with Jazz St. Louis, on the final day camp, the culminating experience will be a clinic workshop with Arturo O’Farrill. Latin Jazz musician Arturo O’Farrill has won eight Grammy awards and is professor of Global Jazz Studies at UCLA. Students will also receive tickets to see O’Farrill perform at the Ferring Bistro, Harold & Dorothy Steward Center for Jazz, on Wednesday June 7 at 7:30p.
Transportation to and from Jazz St. Louis is the responsibility of individual students.
Lunch will be provided.
Recommended ages: 14-18
This is a day camp. There is no on-campus housing availability.
Transportation to and from camp is the responsibility of individual students.
Students must provide their own instrument(s) aside from piano, drums, and percussion.
