M-684: Ted Menze Photograph Collection

ABSTRACT: Three albums with over 400 photographs depicting the professional and family life of St. Louis baseball player, Ted Menze, circa 1915-1940s. 

HISTORY: Charles Theodore “Ted” Menze (1897-1969) was a professional baseball player originally from St. Louis, Missouri. These photo albums document his career in multiple minor league teams from 1918-1931, including the Rochester Hustlers, Houston Buffaloes, Peoria Tractors, Oklahoma City Indians, and Fort Wayne Chiefs. The albums also include photographs of his family and various locations around St. Louis, including the bowling alley he managed after his baseball career. 

EXTENT:  3 photo albums, 4 sleeves of loose photographs, 11 envelopes of negatives 

ACCESS: This is collection M-684. This collection is available for on-site use only in the Rare Book and Manuscripts Reading Room. Some of the collection may be photocopied, digitally scanned or photographed, depending on condition. Researchers are advised to call ahead concerning changes in hours due to University intersessions and holidays.
