ABSTRACT: Hand-drawn map (pencil and ink, added coloring in purple) of Fort Lamine, Missouri, during the Civil War in 1862. 

SCOPE: This map depicts the Lamine River, Pacific Railroad, and Fort Lamine, including hospitals, the artillery stable, gates, trenches, the commissary, and the graveyard. The map is signed by union soldier J.V. Parrish, with an inscription on the back written phonetically with incorrect spelling: “This fort: Drawen my selfe / My Capton sed that it colds / not be beten very easy / sind JV Parrish.” [Translation: This fort: drawn myself, my captain said that it could not be beaten very easily. Signed J. V. Parrish]
