Abstract: The Helen E. Nash Collection encompasses excellent examples of publishing related to African and African-American culture from early captivity narratives to first editions of Uncle Tom's Cabin as well as works by Langston Hughes and more contemporary authors and poets; rare maps and books that document the slave trade in Europe and America; and manuscripts and broadsides related to emancipation and African-American life in the Civil War era.
