Series 4: Includes related materials of the Illinois Glass Company. The collection was described and arranged according to the original labels used by the Illinois Glass Company.The contents of the collection have also been kept within their original envelopes, files, and folders.

HISTORY: The collection contains the financial and legal papers of the Illinois Glass Company initially owned by the Levis and Smith families of Alton, Illinois. The material includes a large collection of stock certificates, financial record books, legal trusts, legal agreements, tax papers, and business related correspondence from within the company dating from its founding in the early 1870's until it merged with the Owens Bottle Company and became the Owens Illinois Glass Company in the early 1930's.

ACCESS: This collection is available for on-site use only in the Rare Book and Manuscripts Reading Room. Some of the material in Special Collection M-138 may be photocopied, digitally scanned or photographed, subject to condition. For collections marked limited access, researchers are advised to contact the library at least three business days in advance of their visit to submit a request to view the physical material.
